About

While digitization of these photographs and Kodachrome slides began as a personal preservation project, the idea of the usefulness for a broader community was quickly apparent. The original idea for the digitization was to preserve my father's time in Vietnam by digitizing almost 50 year old photographs and slides, then place them on a website to be viewable by family members and his friends from the United States Air Force. While creating this personal history site, many people expressed interest in seeing the work, and that interest made it apparent that the items would be useful and enjoyed by the general public, as well.

The concentration of items in this collection are objects from the Vietnam War during the period of 1961-1975. Items that are for individual, not commercial use, will be considered for this collection. Criteria used for the collection is based on date of item, location of the photo or item, veteran residence in Western Pennsylvania, and the military status of the photographer at the time the photo was taken. Minimal restrictions are placed on the items as the collection can grow to contain other items so long as they complement the items in the collection, and fall under items created or obtained during tours of duty in Vietnam.
